Birth Advocacy Support

Every revolution needs a battle plan!

The heart of advocacy work is defining the problem, planning steps to solve the problem, then working to achieve your goal.  I work with others to help them create strategic plans that clarify, plan, and execute actions to improve birth on the local level and nationally.

Using tools and techniques to grow leadership skills as well as to set and achieve working goals, I support individuals and organizations of birth advocates in their work to improve maternity care.

“Just wanted to reach out to say thank you.  Your message of starting to gather information about where to give birth and who to choose as a care provider even before conceiving is right on.  I continue to love my work as a birth doula, prenatal yoga teacher and just received my 500 hour certification as a Yoga Therapist here in NC.  Thanks for mentoring me on the path!  You are a wonderful inspiration to me and to women who hear your message!”  – Margaret

Teleseminars

Applying “Forces for Good:
Six Practices of High-Impact Nonprofits”
to Maternity Care Advocacy

Since many Birth Advocates come to the work as mothers who were activated into birth work by their birth experiences, we miss out on learning some of the conceptual frameworks and best practices that already exist to provide structure to our work.

The book, “Forces for Good:  Six Practices of High-Impact Nonprofits” by Leslie R. Crutchfield and Heather McLeod Grant, identifies the practices of 12 large nonprofits that are making outsize impact in their field.  These practices can be applied within the Birth Community to grow the movement and increase the effectiveness of our advocacy work.

Bring these concepts to your team through a teleseminar program which can provide either a brief overview of the concepts, or an in-depth study of the six practices and how to apply them to your organization or community.
